Airborne Initiative staff appeal to keep going

Press Briefing-Wednesday 25th February at 11a.m-Signet Library, Parliament Square, Edinburgh

Following the leadership shown on Monday in an open letter to the First Minister by some of the country’s leading criminal justice experts, a press briefing will be held in the Signet Library, Parliament Square, Edinburgh at 11a.m on Wednesday 25th February 2004.

Members of staff who featured in the TV series “Chancers”, and successful ex offenders who have completed the course, will head up the briefing, chaired by Clive Fairweather, ex HM Chief Inspector of Prisons. The aim of their campaign is to ask the Executive, yet again, to reconsider keeping the Airborne Initiative going, pending a further review-i.e “to give this particularly difficult group of offenders one more chance- as staff themselves have done over the last ten years.” Reflecting a remarkable cross-party consensus, a number of MSP’s from across the political spectrum are expected to be present.
